Rendezvous definitely serves up the barbecue ribs that Dale Earnhardt Jr. loves along with quite a few people in Memphis, Tennessee. He has publicly praised their cooking abilities and he can definitely afford to have them shipped to his home in North Carolina. It is truly amazing how far some of the track promoters would go in order to sell tickets to fans.
It is one thing to have a viable, signed agreement with a driver about participating in a race than to falsely utilize his status to mislead racing fans. Dale Jr. can definitely draw a crowd of folks and if you tell people that he is going to be in the vicinity then they will move heaven as well as earth to be there just to catch a glimpse. Memphis Motorsports Park promoters have outdone themselves by trying to make people believe that this NASCAR phenomenon would come and participate in a race for a lifetime of ribs.
Dale Jr. had the following to say about his comment that was aired on MTV Cribs:“I talked about Memphis barbecue and I specifically pulled out the package of barbecue that I liked, and it’s called Rendezvous and I mentioned that on the show. So they knew that Rendezvous, if anybody has ever been to Memphis and ate there, they know its great barbecue ribs, so they know that that was my favorite.” (www.racingwin.com)
Additionally, there were further comments made by the NASCAR superstar about him not having any intentions of racing at that racetrack any time soon. After all he is running a full-time schedule in the Sprint Cup Series, making commercials, making appearances and the list goes on. I think that Dale Jr. should be commended for setting the record straight especially during these harsh economic times.
What do you all think about false advertisements by race track promoters? How would you feel if you got caught up in the hype of purchasing a ticket to an event where the goods weren’t delivered as promised?
Until next time…
